Welcome to the Trident Sub Aqua Club website - Dublin SCUBA Diving Club
Welcome to the Trident Sub Aqua Club website. Our club was founded in 1975 and currently has some 25 members. The club is an affiliated club with Comhairle Fó-Thuinn - Irish Underwater Council (CFT). CFT is the co-ordinating body for Underwater Diving Clubs in Ireland and is the representative body for Ireland in the World Underwater Federation (Confédériation Mondiale des Activitiés Subaquatiques – CMAS).
Between March and October we dive regularly in Dublin Bay and make weekend trips to top dive locations in Ireland, on a monthly basis. We organise at least one dive holiday abroad in warm waters each year.
Weekly winter snorkels are great fun and keep our fitness levels up for next dive season.
During the winter, our pool sessions and dive lectures provide an opportunity to train new members. If you have ever considered following in the footsteps of Jacques Cousteau, or taking those holiday dive lessons to a new level, then why not complete our Membership Enquiry form.

An interesting movie about Indonesian Mimic Octopus - Thaumoctopus mimicus. This fascinating creature was discovered in 1998 off the coast of Sulawesi in Indonesia, the mimic octopus is the first known species to take on the characteristics of multiple species. This octopus is able to copy the physical likeness and movement of more than fifteen different species, including sea snakes, lionfish, flatfish, brittle stars, giant crabs, sea shells, stingrays, jellyfish, sea anemones, and mantis shrimp. This animal is so intelligent that it is able to discern which dangerous sea creature to impersonate that will present the greatest threat to its current possible predator. For example, scientists observed that when the octopus was attacked by territorial damselfishes, it mimicked the banded sea snake, a known predator of damselfishes.
